From Campo de Borja,, form old vines of Garnacha. The nose here is lovely, spicy, like a red cherry chutney, absent any obvious wood influence but certainly an oxidative leaning. The palate is silky and supple, yet still taut and succulent, with terrific intensity of flavour and fine licorice spice lingering on and on. A uniquely Spanish expression of the variety, distinct from those of the southern Rhône, less fleshy, with higher acids and more freshness overall. This is an excellent example. Drink or hold mid-term.
